Can an insurance company use Facebook against me?

Jamie Hall2018-12-17T13:07:30-05:00December 24th, 2018|

“Can the things I post on Facebook be used in my insurance company’s case against my claim?”

Yes! If you are applying for or collecting long term disability benefits, the insurance company will often review your Facebook and other social media accounts. Unfortunately, Facebook posts discussing you on your best day and in the most favorable light will often suggest a higher level of function than you actually have. You should be careful about what you post on Facebook.

Without context, vacation pictures, comments about activities or travel discussion can be misinterpreted. It is best to limit or eliminate your Facebook posts.

Our office has handled claims in 29 states involving innumerable conditions.  We have several locations to make meeting as easy as possible and can often schedule in-home meetings for claimants with severe mobility limitations.  You are welcome to contact us to discuss your claim at (610) 343-1296 or [email protected].  As always, there is no obligation for an initial call.
